About the place Switzerland in Amirim, Accommodation in the Upper Galilee
About the place
Switzerland in Amirim is a complex of six guest units in Moshav Amirim, in the Upper Galilee. Every unit has a view balcony, a wide double bed and an equipped kitchenette, and the units also have an indoor jacuzzi. The shared garden has lawns, a fruit orchard, a trampoline for children and shaded seating areas facing the view.
The garden has two outdoor jacuzzis, one of them facing a panoramic view of the Sea of Galilee. They are booked in advance, so each couple or family enjoys them in complete privacy. Spa treatments by local therapists, given in your unit, can also be arranged in advance. There is a standard shelter in the complex, accessible to guests.
Location and surroundings
Amirim is Israel’s first vegetarian and vegan village, set about 600 metres above sea level in the Upper Galilee and surrounded by Galilean woodland. The complex looks out over the Sea of Galilee, the Beit HaKerem Valley and the Galilee mountains. The village itself has the Mitzpe Kinneret lookout, a semi-Olympic swimming pool open in summer (free entry for guests), a grocery store and vegetarian and vegan restaurants. Mount Meron is about a 10-minute drive away.
The village was founded in 1958 as a vegetarian community. Barbecues are not allowed and there are no poultry farms, so the air is clean and the atmosphere especially quiet.
Hiking and activities nearby
Recommended trails nearby include the nearby Nahal Prod, Upper Nahal Amud, Upper Nahal Tsalmon and the Mount Meron summit trail. Within driving distance are the Old City of Safed, Rosh Pina, boutique wineries, ATV tours and the beaches of the Sea of Galilee.
Who is it for?
Couples and families looking for a quiet break in the Galilee, including guests who need an accessible, step-free unit. Shabbat observers are well catered for: the village has an active synagogue, an eruv and a mikveh, and a hot plate and urn can be arranged in advance. The complex is not suitable for parties and does not accept pets.
